EVALUATING EVERYTHING ACCORDING TO THE QUR'AN

Man is placed on earth only for a very short time. There, he will be tested, trained and then passed over to the Hereafter where he will stay forever. The possessions and blessings of this world, although created similar to their originals in Heaven, actually possess many defects and weaknesses. For they are only intended to make man remember the Hereafter.

The aim of life for a believer is solely that of being a servant of Allah. People are not created to fulfill their vain desires and greed, or to pursue their passions; the one and only reason for our creation is to serve Allah.

The way to achieve this is by taking the Qur’an as our unique guide. We should give all our attention to applying every decree of the Qur’an. Our target should be to observe every decree of the Qur'an as much as possible.

We can see from the Qur’an that the responsibility of the believers rests not only on decisive verses, such as those on regular prayers, fasting or hajj but also on prayers that require interpretation. For instance, in one verse believers are urged to “invite (all) to the Way of their Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious” (Surat an-Nahl, 125).

The believers can understand this “wisdom and beautiful preaching” by both applying the Qur’an’s general logic and manner, and also their own wisdom and understanding.

There are many other responsibilities that require wisdom and understanding. For example, the Qur’an describes various models of communities, and informs us of the way we should treat those different kinds of people. And what should be said to those people is mostly mentioned in the Qur’an in the verses beginning with, “Say...”.

The verses that advise believers how to behave are clearly described in the Qur’an. But if these precepts are to be applied to daily life, instant recognition of their true significance is a must. At this point, it is the wisdom and understanding of the believers that help.

The Qur’an describes various kinds of people, such as believers, Christians, Jews, hypocrites and pagans. We must learn the concerned verses very well, because what actually should be done is to identify those kinds of people in our society and act towards them as the Qur’an commands. This is inevitable for being a “living Qur’an”.

Moreover, believers should realize that all the people around us undoubtedly belong to one or more of the categories of people described in the Qur’an. All the people exist to form the society described in the Qur’an and none is created in vain:

“Not for (idle) sport did We create the heavens and the earth and all that is between!” (Surat al-Anbiya’, 16)

However, it is not only the people around us that are described in the Qur’an. In fact, everything that we see and everything that happens are indeed reflections of what is written in the Qur’an.

“Soon will We show them our Signs on the horizons, and in their own souls, until it becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth. Is it not enough that your Lord witnesses all things?” (Surah Fussilat, 53)

The whole universe consists of signs of Allah. Just like a painting presents its painter to the on-lookers, just like every detail on this painting shows the brush prints of the painter, all the universe and every detail of this universe exist to present Allah, the Creator of all things. The more believers realize this fact, the more will they recognize Allah and painstakingly obey all His decrees. As one comprehends that life with all its details, is actually a “sign” as defined in the Qur’an, one will relate everything at every stage of one’s “daily life” to the values of the Qur’an.

Everything takes place in accordance with the destiny Allah has determined and therefore, everything has a purpose. What believers should do is interpret each event in the light of the Qur’an and react in the way the Qur’an prescribes. For example when encountered with something “vain” and idle, the believer should pay no heed to it. But the fact is; this vain thing is already created so that the believer pays no heed to it. The believers should interpret every happening according the perspective of the Qur’an. So, they actually must develop their culture and characteristics in conformity to the Qur’an, how Allah decrees. In order to achieve this, they must leave all they have attained from their ignorant past and society. They should decide what to do in every circumstance by depending on the interpretation and logic of the Qur’an, because, the words of Allah show them the way to handle each situation. As it is said in the Qur'an, it was sent down to us as a Book “explaining all things” (Surat an-Nahl, 88).

DISTRUSTING GOD

Another very important factor that clouds people's minds is their distrust of Allah, in other words not submitting to the fate Allah has decreed for them. One who doesn't trust Allah has forgotten that Allah has infinite wisdom and controls every situation and every creature in the universe. And because of this, as with all the other factors that veil the mind, he cannot analyse things clearly or fully see realities.

However, Allah watches over and protects all beings. Whether they are aware of this or not, Allah creates events according to a decree and with these events He tests people. So, Allah creates every event a person faces throughout his life with a motive and for a good reason. This is how Allah warns people on this matter:

Allah alone has knowledge of what the heavens and the earth conceal; to Him all things shall be returned. So worship Him and put your trust in Him. Your Lord is not unaware of what you do. (Surah Hud: 123)

… It may be that you hate something when it is good for you and it may be that you love something when it is bad for you. Allah knows and you do not know. (Surat al-Baqara: 216)

One who believes these verses and comprehends that behind every incident there is a hidden motive and benefit for him, is one who has trust in Allah. Even if he faces a situation, which at first sight seems to his disadvantage, he knows that this will bring him good in this world and in the next and he acts on this knowledge. Because he evaluates incidents with full trust in Allah, his reasoning and judgement are in perfect shape, and as a result he can make sensible evaluations. On the other hand, one who has no faith in Allah forgets that Allah creates events in order to test him and so becomes totally distant from rationalism.

We can explain the great difference between these two people with an example. Let's say that a factory goes on fire and the owner of the factory forgets that this situation is controlled by Allah and doesn't think that there must be a benefit in this situation for him, so he begins to distrust Allah. And, one who doesn't trust Allah cannot think straight or take the necessary precautions or in any other way, act sensibly. For example, not being calm and composed can cause the otherwise extinguishable fire to grow. He loses time by being panic and grief-stricken and making a fuss instead of putting out the fire, saving his property, or calling the fire brigade. After the fire, instead of taking measures against future fires so that it won't ever happen again, he occupies himself with useless thoughts, such as "how and why did it happen, I wish it had not happened, or if I had done so-and-so it wouldn't have happened".

One, who trusts Allah, never becomes hopeless or sad, even if he loses everything he has. This person knows that Allah can take away a blessing He gave and that He does this to test people's trust in Him. With a clear consciousness, he tries to take care of the damage as soon as possible and takes the most swift and sensible precautions. He doesn't waste his time in panicking, worrying, or losing hope. Furthermore, without losing any time after such an event, he tries to make up for the damage by taking the most effective precautions possible so that it will not recur.

When it comes to the property he has lost, because he knows that the only owner of wealth is Allah, he is peaceful and at ease. He trusts Allah with all his heart and he prays for Him to give him more than what he has lost. And he is happy to know that he will be rewarded much more for his trust in Allah in the Hereafter.

Our Prophet (saas) explained this issue in the following example, "If you put your whole trust in Allah, as you ought, He most certainly will satisfy your needs, as He satisfies those of the birds. They come out hungry in the morning, but return full to their nests." (Tirmidhi)

UNBELIEVERS CANNOT BE HAPPY BECAUSE THEY DO NOT LOOK FOR SOLUTIONS IN THE QUR'AN

Not looking for answers in the Qur'an is one of the first errors made in a society of ignorance. They see clearly that the situation in which they find themselves is a dead end. They recognize that the lifestyle they have adopted and the character they have assumed have not led them anywhere; that these things have been unsatisfying and even disappointing. In response, they experiment with other alternatives provided by the society of ignorance, but find that these too bring them nothing. Because, one ignorant pattern of behavior is basically no different than another. People, places and conditions may change, but the false expectations and anxiety remain the same; the "intellectual" and the "socialite" are both focused on this world.

However, this earthly life is too brief to be worth becoming overly attached to. There is nothing to be gained from this world; when a person dies, everything he had will be taken from him. For this reason, every kind of undue devotion to this world gives rise only to anxiety.

But, the solution has already been provided; a human being can find happiness only when he turns to Allah. A person can be saved from his troubles only by being Allah's friend and leading the kind of life He wills.

In the Qur'an, Allah reveals this important secret:

Those who believe and whose hearts find peace in the remembrance of Allah. Only in the remembrance of Allah can the heart find peace. (Surat ar-Ra'd, 28)

One who had become the friend of Allah strictly obeys the Book sent down by our Lord to guide him.

From that point on, his personality and lifestyle are determined only by the Qur'an. Therefore, by the will of Allah, the Qur'an can lead human beings from darkness to light:

Alif Lam Ra. This is a Book We have sent down to you so that you can bring humanity from the darkness to the light, by the permission of their Lord, to the Path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy. (Surah Ibrahim, 1)

For this reason, there is no anxiety, discontent, worry or confusion in the personality derived from the teachings of the Qur'an. Instead, there is beauty, balance and faultless manners. Allah has promised such believers that He will offer them the finest reward for the good they do.

So that Allah can reward them for the best of what they did and give them more from His unbounded favor. Allah provides for anyone He wills without reckoning. (Surat an-Nur, 38)

SOCIETIES THAT TURN THEIR BACKS ON RELIGIOUS MORAL VALUES ALSO TURN AWAY FROM TRUE LOVE

The Facebook generation do not know love

All kinds of negative moral values and behavior, such as insincerity, jealousy, the urge to harm others, enmity and anger, are widespread in societies that turn their backs on religious virtues. People far removed from the moral values of the Qur’an cannot genuinely love and respect one another. Their behavior toward one another therefore becomes increasingly mechanical. This model, far removed from altruism, sincerity and honest love, actually poses a major threat to society. People who murder and injure others, who cause conflict, who are rude or have tendencies to steal are also people who have no experience of the beauty of love or the spiritual matters bestowed by religious moral values.

But people may be generally at first unable to appreciate the scale of the danger. Because this inhuman structure appears very suddenly and unexpectedly in society. People who gradually turn their backs on the state of mind bestowed by religious moral values also turn their backs on mutual love and respect. They become unable to understand the importance of these things. Human love increasingly declines, and examples of this can be clearly seen. For example, people may initially help one another but then come to regard mutual assistance as damaging to their own interests. They may adopt the satanic idea of "What do I stand to gain?" When they see they have nothing personally to gain they may adopt the totally mistaken idea, in their own eyes, that assisting others or behaving altruistically is meaningless. A human model that looks solely to its own self-interest thus results. It is only natural for crime rates to rise and human relations to be impaired in such a society in which affection, compassion and brotherhood are replaced by anger, conflict and feelings of hostility.

To cite an example of this, according to a wide-ranging study conducted in Britain with the help of the Church of England, social problems and the risks facing young people have reached alarming levels in British society. The report says that greed, selfishness and individualism have a negative effect on children’s lives. It also says that for that reason families and children need to receive a basic education on the subjects of love and moral responsibility. The research also emphasized that parents’ personal desires have a negative impact on their children. According to the report, the root of the problem is an “extreme individualism” in society. The conclusion drawn by the sociologists at the end of the study is this: “individualism must be replaced by moral values.” The research also says that mutual aid, altruism and being pleasant are far preferable to self-interest.

The only solution to the moral degeneration, social problems and crime in society is for people to live completely by the moral values of the Qur’an. A devout Muslim is altruistic for Allah’s sake, and it pleases him; he speaks pleasant words in order to comply with Allah’s commandment in the Qur’an, and his heart is eased; he is generous in order to earn Allah’s approval, and that brings him peace and joy. Because of his great love for Almighty Allah, a vast love for all His manifestations arises in his heart. He feels a genuine love for people, one that is not based on self-interest. Since he treats people with love, both he and those around him are at peace. Because he bears all these excellent qualities, the list of which is endless, the believer is mentally completely at ease. It is clear that a society in which the majority of people have these virtues, will enjoy a high level of well-being, peace and beauty.

In the Qur’an, Allah says that virtuous believers will enjoy pleasant lives in this world and in the Hereafter:

Anyone who acts rightly, male or female, being a believer, We will give them a good life and We will recompense them according to the best of what they did. (Surat an-Nahl, 97)

We gave him good in the world and in the Hereafter he will be one of the righteous. (Surat an-Nahl, 122)

LOOK AT YOUR LIVES REALISTICALLY

Films show birds-eye views of the world’s most modern, largest and magnificent cities. Looked at from above, giant skyscrapers and bright city lights are highly attractive to most people. But this is the false face of the glittering world seen from the outside. When one enters the city and looks at it realistically, one sees no alluring life of the kind imagined in societies that do not live by the Qur’anic moral values. Because the lives of the people who work in the skyscrapers are filled with intrigue, rivalry and greed, nobody in them is happy. These people, who have lost all human qualities, work like robots and have no awareness. These people who fill the roads, streets, shopping malls, metros and quays are unaware of their own purpose. They are unaware of the dirt and noise of the city, its crowds and the unconsciousness on the faces of the people.

Cars, shopping malls, shops, restaurants and expensive districts are my no means as impressive as one might imagine from seeing them from above. The shopping malls are full of people who just look longingly at the windows but lack the power to purchase anything. These people eat fast-food off plastic plates, drink out of plastic glasses and sit on plastic chairs at plastic tables, and are unaware of this misery that has enthralled them. Since they hate one another, these people try never to make eye contact with anyone. They fear and avoid everyone else. They have literally turned into robots, bereft of all feelings of friendship, love, compassion, affection and empathy.

The only salvation for these people who live so unhappily, with atrophied eyes and hearts, in the cities is religious moral values. Someone who loves Allah loves all the people He has created. Love brings with it compassion, sympathy, consideration, loyalty and enjoyment of beauty. A peaceful, modern life is only possible in these magnificent-seeming cities when they are inhabited by people who look one another in the face, are loyal and behave in the finest manner by knowing the value of beauty.

SOCIETY IS DEMONIZING CHILDREN

The lovelessness, unhappiness and conflict in society are increasing day by day. A report concerning children in Britain has set out how they are being “DEMONIZED” by society. The report states that attitudes toward youngsters generally are hardening, and that a great number are in detention. This once again reveals how crucially important it is for society to live by the moral values of the Qur’an. People who abide by the moral virtues of the Qur’an have very great compassion for one another. It is impossible for there to be lovelessness, unhappiness or conflict among such people. Our Almighty Lord reveals this in verses:

A Light has come to you from Allah and a Clear Book. By it, Allah guides those who follow what pleases Him to the ways of Peace. He will bring them from the darkness to the light by His permission, and guide them to a straight path. (Surat al-Ma’ida, 15-16)

Other Muslims have closer ties to the Muslims than their own selves. They protect, elevate and value each other before themselves. When it comes to children needing protection, they set themselves to one side and enthusiastically and affectionately help them for Allah’s (God’s) approval. That is why there is always peace in Muslim societies. There is no conflict or crime because everyone behaves in a manner of which Allah will approve. Believers who fear Allah treat one another with enormous loyalty and compassion. By Allah’s will, they are able to live together in peace, happiness and love. There can be no lovelessness or unhappiness among people who possess an intense love and fear of Allah. In the Qur’an, Allah praises love and solidarity and commands people to have moral virtues. Human nature is predisposed to love and beauty. Human beings want to be happy. But when they seek happiness through worldly means they fall into a great error and are totally unable to find the peace, security and love they seek.

Allah reveals in a verse that human nature is created to be compatible with Qur’anic moral values:

So set your face firmly towards the Religion, as a pure natural believer, Allah’s natural pattern on which He made mankind. There is no changing Allah’s creation. That is the true Religion – but most people do not know it. (Surat ar-Rum, 30)

Greed for money or material possessions is one of satan’s snares. When people live without thinking of the Hereafter, without faith, solely for their own worldly interests, they literally become friends of satan. But in doing this, they are heedless of the following verse of the Qur’an:

… Satan always leaves man in the lurch. (Surat al-Furqan, 29)

That is why it has become almost nothing out of the ordinary to come across increasing numbers of reports of “demonization” in the press. The numbers of children committing crimes, and aggressive people, murderers and perverts, have reached terrifying proportions. The solution is to live in full compliance with the moral values of the Qur’an, and to act out of a love and fear of Allah.

TERROR CANNOT BE ERADICATED BY CONDEMNATION; THERE MUST BE AN END TO DARWINIST EDUCATION IN ORDER TO ELIMINATE TERROR

Many countries today live under the constant threat of terrorism. This scourge, which has persisted across the world for many years, leads to the sudden and unforeseen death or crippling of innocent men, women and children, villagers and soldiers by way of cunning ambushes and lethal traps. The preventive measures taken against this scourge have never represented a real solution. The bloody scourge of terror that afflicted countries in the past is still actively employing the same cunning tactics today.

The cowardly attacks and terror perpetrated across the world today are constantly condemned and every new outrage is fiercely cursed. But what purpose does constantly condemning terrorism serve? When has condemnation of terrorism ever represented a definitive solution to the countries afflicted by such attacks? When has it ever prevented new terrorist outrages? Mere verbal criticism of terror is very definitely no solution at all, and is perhaps the weakest response that can be given to such attacks. The real response to terror requires a realistic initiative, deep-rooted action against the ideology of terror if terrorism itself is to be eradicated. That initiative will only be made possible by drying up the swamps in which communist terror breeds.

Terrorists have a philosophy. That philosophy is dialectical materialism, and it is fundamentally grounded in Darwinism. That philosophy will persist and continue to nourish the scourge of terrorism so long as Darwinism is not eradicated and no end is therefore put to Marxism and materialism. It is therefore essential that this philosophy be completely eradicated and people be educated against its foundation, Darwinism.

It is a grave error to condemn terror and lose victims to it on the one hand but for Darwinism to be taught in schools on the other. Darwinist education serves no other purpose than to reinforce communist terror. Being aware, but remaining insensitive to the fact that Darwinism constitutes the origin of communist ideology means remaining insensitive to terrorism itself. Nothing can come from condemning terrorism while Darwinism is still being taught in schools.

Darwinist ideology is based on an outdated theory that has been spilling blood and deceiving humanity through hoaxes and lies for some 150 years. All young people in schools must be taught and shown that this untrue theory built on lies is based on hoaxes and deceit. They must be told that the ideology of dialectical materialism and its supposed scientific basis, Darwinism, are false beliefs. Only then can realistic and effective measures against global terrorism be taken. Only then can those preventive measures be permanent and have permanent results. No other tactics can ever put an end to this scourge. In order for terrorism to be brought to an end its vital arteries must be completely severed and its intellectual infrastructure brought down.
